My name is Samuel Swaratlhe. I grew up in a small village called Ratjiepan in South Africa, located in North West Province. I’m a spiritual individual, inspired by my own spiritual experiences. I’m a self-taught artist, who started drawing at an early age, and spent a lot of time drawing. Having went through tough
times, unable to purchase art materials, I had restless nights because of this burning desire for art,
so I had to spend a lot of time working with charcoal on paper.
I was then fortunate enough to meet a well experienced Fine Arts teacher who volunteered to teach me some basics, and I learned a lot of things about art. I exhibited at Trent Gallery in a group
exhibition in 2019. My art was selected to be on the SEED II AUCTION by SAFFCA in 2022 and most recently in 2023 was selected to participate in a group exhibition hosted by Lizamore Gallery at the Firestation in Rosebank, titled 'Season's Greetings'.
