Kayode Ejioye
Born in Ikole-Ekiti in 1985, Kayode Ejioye hails from Ekiti State, southwest Nigeria. While still in secondary school as an early teenager with a sprouting passion for creativity, he signed up for apprenticeship at Momsam Publicity in Lagos, where he learned publicity graphics – (sign-writing, screen printing et al) – after normal school hours. The young Kayode later on proceeded to study Drawing and Painting at the Ultimate Art Gallery & ArtPoint Studio, also in Lagos.
He obtained an OND certificate in General Art from the department of Art and Industrial Design, Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu. In his quest to attain higher artistic erudition and professionalism, he further reapplied in the same institution and bagged HND. He approaches his works: depicting the black body, especially the male in a position of power , force, hope, beauty and elegance with a modern day fashion trends.
His preferred medium is acrylic on canvass. He has partaken in many group art exhibitions and his works can be found in galleries and private collections in Nigeria and beyond. Kayode is a full time studio artist in his Lagos base. Artist statement: My art this time must be self inclusion. the black body must take a center-stage, prominence so that it has the equall opportunity with the rest of other colours in the world.
