Diane Webb

Diane Webb
Diane Webb (b. in 1962). She was raised in semi-rural Durbanville, South Africa. Diane has identified herself as an Artist all her life, a love of strong Drawing and Expression manifesting itself throughout. 4 Years of Study in the Eastern Cape grounded the Artist to strong ethnic cultural roots. The Artist maintained a balance of a strong work ethic , ( employed in sales ), a dedication to family and also a dogged devotion to spend endless hours alone in her studio. She remained uninfluenced by the popular Art world, rather following her own integral Expression. Inspired by her extensive travels through Southern Africa she blends her diverse subjects together with Painting, strong Drawing , frequently fabric ,Collage and Photography. The Challenge for Diane remains with working in isolation, capturing the sincerity of life in Africa, right here, right now. Her Art remains an interpretive journey through daily encounters , often with the vanishing and broken people of society. Highlights for Diane include, amongst others : The top 100 Sasol New Signatures Exhibition ( Pretoria Art Museum) 2018, (and the Purchase of 'Pieta' by Sasol for their permanent Collection) Solo Exhibitions annually from 2018 to 2020, showcasing continuous new work at different venues in the Cape Town area. (Ndiza Art Gallery, 6 Spin Street Cape Town, The Vineyard Hotel Newlands ) A solid record of group shows underlines her work ethic.(Zeitz Mocaa ""Home is Where the Art is"" /Art@Africa All womxnmatter / ArtB gallery and SA landscape Art competition. Currently she is part of the AVA Gallery group Exhibition celebrating 10 years of First Thursday in Cape Town . The Works of Diane hang in various Collections throughout the world, including Australia. Traditional Art expectations are still rejected by herself in favour of honest expression."
