Khanyisile Mahlangu

Khanyisile Mahlangu
Born in 1999, Khanyisile Mahlangu is a self-trained Visual Artist. Having studied Interior design and Project Management, garnering a degree from the University of Johannesburg where the skills and knowledge gained have seamlessly integrated into her artistic journey. Allowing her to explore new mediums and techniques and leaving a lasting impact. Khanyisile is interested in creating modern abstract harmonious form compositions and environments that immerse the viewer in her realm of being. Imagination is at the heart of her artistic journey. The constant flow of ideas that once only found life in her interior design projects now have a canvas of their own. Her work reflects a continuous dialogue between the imagined and the real, the conceptual and the tangible. This interplay allows Khanyisile to explore new dimensions of abstract art, pushing boundaries and redefining spaces through her creative lens. Her work is characterised by its modern abstract style, heavily influenced by themes of contemplation and confusion influenced by young South African Artists. It is a visual exploration of the human psyche, delving into the complexities of identity, emotion, perception and transforming spaces through their presence. Colour choices always aim to reflect the duality of calm and chaos inherent in her introspective and subconscious abstract thoughts.
