Yassmin Forte (b. 1980, Quelimane) is a distinguished Mozambican artist, curator, and communication professional based in Maputo. With a degree in Communication Sciences from ISPU, Forte has cultivated an impressive 11-year career spanning Mozambique, Portugal, Cape Verde, and Brazil, working in both urban and rural contexts.
Passionate about art and cultural diversity, Forte is an accomplished photographer who has presented several solo exhibitions, including 'On the Stage' and 'In Stage 1' at BCI Mediateca and 'Mulheres com Pinta' at Livraria Minerva. Her work has also been featured in numerous collective exhibitions over the last eight years.
Beyond her artistic practice, Forte is a respected curator. She has curated significant projects such as the UN Women Photography Contest and a homage to Jorge Almeida (in collaboration with Filipe Branquinho) at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center. She is also committed to community development, leading photography workshops like "Olhar da Rapariga" and serving as a juror for various photo contests.
Her global perspective has been further enriched through participation in three international artistic residencies: Catchupa Factory in Cape Verde, and Gineceu/Legado and Up Cycle in Maputo.
