Mlondi Magubane
Mlondi Magubane was born in Pimville, Soweto. He describes himself as a visual practitioner. He studied photography at the Market Photo Workshop in 2019 Film & Television at Revolution Media Academy in 2022. He currently lives and works in Johannesburg. He has collaborated with music artists Mduduzi Ncube and Kunle Ayo. Magubane’s interests are in environmental portraiture, landscapes and studio product shots.
Most of his conceptual work focuses on subcultures and indigenous knowledge. In 2021 he photographed crafts for the Dubai Craft Show. He is a resident of Occupying The Gallery and has been part of group exhibitions that include, Bazobuya (2023) at Keys Art Mile, Johannesburg, (Le)-Lapha (2023) at SMAC Gallery, Johannesburg and more recently in ‘Bazobuya' (2024) curated by Lawrence Lemaoana, at the KZNSA Gallery in Durban, South Africa.
