Tawanda Mhandu
Born in Zimbabwe, Mhandu describes himself as a living African artist representing unsung indigenous artists. The basis of his practice as an artist comes from creations that modern-day technology cannot replicate or surpass. These creations range from the pyramids of Giza, Mapungubwe - Great Zimbabwe and the pre-Columbus American Olmec civilisation.
A multifaceted artist, Mhandu creates work in a variety of media, painting in oils, Acrylic, Pastels, smoke, watercolour, and charcoal. He also dabbles in sculpture using metal, stone, and mixed media. He works largely work with found material and is in the habit of upcycling with his art.
He also does performance art in the form of live sand art.
