"Boitumelo Lamola is a 21 year old multidisciplinary artist who is currently doing her second year in Fine Arts at the University of Johannesburg. She was born and raised in Soweto and has always been an art enthusiast from a very young age. She identifies as a feminist, social activist and body positive artist. "I like to speak of issues that are personal to me in my work because I know young black women will relate and be inspired to live loudly and unapologetically. Black women have been excluded extensively in history, restricted from having an opinion and participating in this elitist career that is Fine Arts and so I want to be a part of the movement along with other Female contemporary artists who are sparking conversations. I want create a space where women can exist freely and love who they are because it is only when you free yourself from the shackles of your mind will the world allow you to exist freely."
