Shayma Idris

Shayma Idris (b. 1986, Saudi Arabia), is a documentary and street photographer. A native of Sudan, she grew up in Khartoum and earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. In 2013, she moved to Cairo to pursue her postgraduate degree. It was in the alleys of Old Cairo that she discovered her passion for capturing sceneries with her phone camera.
In 2014, she joined a photojournalist initiative to create the EverydayCairo online photo project and participated in numerous national photography exhibitions. Shayma returned to Sudan in 2017 and started the EverydayKhartoum project, continuing to exhibit her work nationally. Due to economic difficulties, she moved to Saudi Arabia, where she lived in a small town with colleagues from 10 different nationalities, gaining insight into diverse cultures. In 2023, Shayma relocated to Spain to continue her life journey in a new continent, with a memory full of images that encapsulate her experiences.
