Hanneke Benadé
Hanneke Benadé earned her BA in Fine Arts from the University of Pretoria in 1993 and lectured part-time until 1998. She has exhibited extensively, including at the Joburg Biennale and London Art Fair. Her first solo exhibition, "Local Girls," was in 1996 at Gallery on Tyrone, Johannesburg. After moving to Cape Town, she presented "Passage" at Chelsea gallery in Darling, "The Gift" at US Gallery in Stellenbosch, and "Once More, Wants More" at Scukan Gallery in Pretoria.
She exhibits at the Everard Reads and 'Stage' was her most recent solo exhibition at the Read Gallery in Cape Town.
Benade continues to exhibit at Everard Read, with her most recent solo show, "Stage," at Read Gallery in Cape Town. She has received several awards, including Merit Awards at the ABSA Atelier (1995/96) and a Brett Kebble Award (2003). In 2008, she received two Kanna-Awards at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in Oudtshoorn. Her works are included in collections at the Universities of Stellenbosch, Pretoria, Free State, and Johannesburg, as well as at Spier Holdings, Rand Merchant Bank, SAB, Hollard House, Pretoria Art Museum, Gauteng Provincial Government, British American Tobacco Company, Sanlam, Sasol, Telkom, and ABSA.
