Segun Aiyesan

Segun Aiyesan is a self-taught artist who has professionally pursued his artistic discipline since 1997.Although his interest in art was sparked at an early age, he initially trained as an engineer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and worked as an oil rig engineer for Chevron before dedicating himself entirely to art. Aiyesan's questing spirit and search for artistic eloquence are reflected in the eclectic, experimental, and prolific nature of his practice.
Aiyesan work maintains a clear vision while navigating various stylistic modes of representation. He utilizes pastels, watercolours, oils, and acrylics, weaving expressive visual narratives of life's vicissitudes. Recently, he began experimenting with collage, which has added a sculptural quality to his painting and heightened the significance of texture in his practice. His previous exhibitions include La Floraison at Alexis Galleries, Lagos (2018), and Oil Man at Boys' Quarters Project Space, Port Harcourt (2014).
