Tayhe Munsamy

Tayhe Munsamy,a Johannesburg-born artist, graduated with First-Class Honours in Fine Art and History of Art from Goldsmiths University of London in 2020. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, video, performance, and digital media, exploring themes of creation, displacement, transformation, and fantasy.
Tayhe's work is deeply rooted in her identity as a mixed-race woman, drawing from the Coloured and Indian communities in South Africa. She masterfully combines cultural specificity and historical archives with fictional elements to craft fantastical worlds that celebrate her nuanced identity. Her artworks unravel connections, memory, time, and traditions, exploring how mythology and folklore create stories that bind us together in a world that has fragmented our ancestry.
In 2021, Tayhe was selected for the RMB Talent Unlocked mentoring program and group show at Everard Read CIRCA Gallery in Johannesburg, in association with Strauss & Co South Africa. She continues to showcase her artworks in group exhibitions across South Africa and internationally.
