Elmarie van Straten
ELMARIE VAN STRATEN (b. 1983) lives and works in Stellenbosch near Cape Town where she obtained an Honours degree in Fine Arts in 2004.
She has since participated in many group and solo exhibitions.
Her art revolves around the theme of escapism, inviting viewers to enter dreamlike landscapes with surreal elements inspired by a fusion of nature, technology and the human psyche.
Van Straten’s preferred medium is painting with oil, but she also uses pastels, spray paint and neon lights to create her work.
