Bongani Ndlovu

Bongani Ndlovu is a visual artist and photographer. He was born in Katlehong, South Africa and currently lives and works in Johannesburg. Ndlovu attended the Market Photo Workshop (2019) and completed all three tiers of their photographic programmes. His work thus far primarily tackles issues of masculinity and representation surrounding Black men’s bodies. Ndlovu is a tutor at the Market Photo Workshop, facilitating support for foundation course students.

He is currently mentored by Lawrence Lemaoana and Mary Sibande under the Occupying the Gallery project, a studio space for emerging artists giving access to established systems of incubating, exhibiting and professional practice. Ndlovu has participated in projects with Lightfarm, the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress Project and Assemblage. In 2019, he exhibited at the Turbine Art Fair. He has shown work at Africa Foto Fair, Kampala Art Bienniale, Strauss & Co, SMAC, Market Photo Workshop. He recently participated in ‘Bazobuya' (2024) curated by Lawrence Lemaoana, at the KZNSA Gallery in Durban, South Africa.
