Mercy Thokozane Minah
Mercy Thokozane Minah is a queer, gender-expansive, multi-disciplinary artist who is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Their work exists across various mediums; literary, audio-visual, theatrical and visual. Mercy has had minimal formal training for their creative explorations, however being an artist has been an organic part of their life since early childhood. They learned the rigor of rehearsal and performing by participating in plays, poetry, and song performances at church from as young as age 3. Mercy’s distinctly vibrant depictions of intimacy between Black, gender and sexually self-determined peoples have been featured and exhibited across an array of platforms, including the Paris Review and Superrare’s Black*Rare showcase (curated by Linda Dounia Rebeiz).
