Debbie Field

Debbie Field
DEBBIE FIELD (1960 -) Debbie Field sees beauty everywhere she looks and it is art that affords her the opportunity of responding to and interpreting this “... a way for me to take it all into my hands. I literally aspire to live my life as a form of art”. Field studied oil painting and was a founding member of “The Artists’ Co-operative”. She attends as many local and overseas workshops and programmes as she can for input and inspiration. She turns mark-making into a celebration and her preferred medium at the moment is oils and wax encaustic. Born in Witbank, Field currently resides and teaches from her studio in Cape Town. She graduated in 1984 from the University of Witwatersrand with a Teaching Degree, majoring in Art. Field has participated in numerous group exhibitions. She has run practical art workshops for UCT Summer School, 2019 and 2020, and will do so again in 2021, and has been invited to offer workshops in the UK, at Seawhite Studios. Aside from painting, teaching and facilitating painting workshops countrywide Field is involved in several creative projects. She has run a number of ceramic studios and collaborated with dancer, Balu Nivision, to develop the “MovingArts” programme. Her work can be found in private collections in South Africa and abroad.
