Johan Steyn (b. 1968, South Africa) is a renowned artist known for his extensive work in coin design, national award trophies, sculpting, painting, and more. His bronzes immediately evoke strong emotions, prompting viewers to ponder the narratives behind his creations. Steyn's journey into art was influenced by his father, Louis Steyn, a well-known South African batik artist, and his own experience as a sculptor and engraver for the South African Mint.

Operating from his studio in Muizenberg, Cape Town, Steyn produces low edition works of outstanding quality and originality. His art focuses on the human figure integrated with nature and heavenly beings in bronze. Steyn's work speaks for itself, capturing the viewer with its emotional depth and originality.

Steyn’s passion for art began in his father’s studio, where the smell of wax and paint ignited his creativity. Despite starting his professional artistic career later in life, he has established himself as a master of various art-making processes, including engraving, metalwork, and painting. His sculptures often depict African wildlife, human figures, busts, angels, and the Minky and the Sunbird range, blending reality and fantasy in a unique dialogue between artist, animal, and child.

Steyn’s studio and art collection are an integral part of his residence in a secure estate, overlooking the picturesque Zandvlei Estuary. His work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including his successful solo exhibition, They Are Disappearing.
