Lara Kruger

Lara Kruger’s work comprises a network of interrelated approaches in which she assumes the multiple and shifting positions of artist-researcher and educator/facilitator.

The creation of her multi-media abstract drawings and paintings are an exercise in exploring and understanding rather than capturing the world we live in. She also has a special interest in collaborative work and arts-based, participatory research.

Lara obtained a master’s degree in Visual Art at Stellenbosch University in 2012. During her M.A. research, she explored the possibilities for how one might work aesthetically to contribute to the enabling of a human ecology through connection-making between individuals and groups, people and planet. For Lara, the tangible objects that we create and the invisible (social) shapes and connections that we create in our everyday lives are intricately interwoven.
