Mahube Diseko (b. 2000) is a visual artist born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa where she currently lives and practices. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in the field of Fine Art from the University of the Witwatersrand. Diseko’s work is centered around notions of identity related to race, gender, and sexuality as well as self-referential experiences which she interrogates in relation to society at large in both her research and artistic practice.
In Diseko's practice, she previously employed lens-based mediums however, through a series of new experiments and interventions, she has expanded artistic repertoire to painting, sculpture and a range of other mediums. In April 2021, she was awarded a place in the For Creative Girls mentorship program. Notable group exhibitions include Bag Factory: Reflections at Bag Factory Artists’ Studios (2023) and NEWWORK at the Wits Art Museum (2021).
