Many Libuta, born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, graduated with a BA degree in Fine Art from the Académie des Beaux-Arts of Kinshasa in 2007. Currently residing and working in Cape Town, he has facilitated workshops at institutions such as the Alliance Française and the Iziko (the South African National Gallery). Alongside his participation in various exhibitions, Many founded the performance group SangisArt/ Sangisa Sangisa, aiming to support his artistic practice and delve deeper into his creative abilities.
Motivated by a dedicated commitment to initiating conversations and raising awareness, Libuta’s primary focus revolves around environmental conservation. He explores theintricate relationship between humans and nature, emphasizing the crucial role of awareness and action in preserving the environment for future generations. His devotion to sparking change is evident in his acrylic works, characterized by a strong, bold surrealist style that seamlessly blends familiar elements with natural motifs, particularly butterflies. This incorporation serves as a metaphor for transformation, highlighting the essential nature of growth and flourishing.
