Mishkaah Amien was born in Cape Town 1991. In 2012, Amien graduated from Ruth Prowse School of Art. In 2017, she then furthered her studies by completing her Post graduate diploma in Fine Art, under the supervision of Bernie Searle and Kurt Campbel, graduating Cum Laude at UCT Michaelis school of Art. Her colorful works pay homage to her identity as a Muslim. Her distinct style displays peace and tranquility that she finds within her identity and through creating her works. Geometry, arabesque patterning and nature are the inspirations behind Amien’s works, and they are brought to life through traditional Western art materials such as paper, gouache paints and watercolors. These materials are used to create her works, and hope to bring Islamic art to the Western art culture
