Phuong Hoang
Phuong Hoang is a Vietnamese painter, photographer, educator, and visual storyteller. From a young age, she has expressed her perception of the world through art. Emotions are crucial in her work, often featuring geometrical forms and bright colors. Growing up in 1990s Hanoi, Hoang developed an interest in using photography and multimedia to tell stories, particularly about the underprivileged.
With over 15 years of journalism experience, Phuong Hoang employs various techniques such as interviews, research, and data analysis to explore her subjects conceptually, critically, and humorously.
Phuong Hoang believes in humanity, self-awareness, and self-reflection. Since 2022, she has been teaching photography, visual narratology, and experimental media at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences. In the same year, she joined the collective Unbinding Histories.
Her work has been exhibited at various photo festivals in Europe, including the European Month of Photography Berlin, Lange Nacht im Museum Hamburg, Backlight Photo Festival in Finland, and OFF Bratislava for Academy in Slovakia.
