Ulriche Jantjes
Ulriche Jantjes (b. 1997, Cape Town, South Africa) has roots in Elim, a mission station in the Overberg. Her passion for her heritage deeply influences her art practice. In 2019, Ulriche completed her BAFA at the Michaelis School of Fine Art (UCT), where she specialized in both sculpture and painting. Her work is inspired by conversations with people from various social backgrounds and communities.
Oral histories form the core of her research, and immersing herself in the Overberg's community and landscape significantly impacts her art. Ulriche is currently pursuing a Master's in Fine Art, focusing on her heritage as a woman of colour.
