'The Ark' is a realism style oil painting on canvas of a small bird covered in droplets, finished with a greenish-blue wash. The bird is a Black Headed Munia and is insinuated to be 'sweating'. the reference image was taken from Joel Sartore's 'Photo Ark' website, where he has been photographing and effectively documenting every species on earth, and creating a digital 'Noah's Ark' with the intention of capturing some of these animals before they disappear forever. The number painted onto the bird's leg band is the photograph and species number, so that this specific bird can be found in the Photo Ark
