Ingrid Nuss is a visual artist based in Wilderness, South Africa, often referred to as the ‘Heart of the Garden Route’. Her deep connection with nature was nurtured through family camping trips along the Cape and Namibia coasts, which sparked her lifelong love for the natural world and fueled her creative passions. From a young age, Ingrid was captivated by drawing and painting the things she loved, eventually honing her skills at the Jack Meyer Art Centre during her school years.
Ingrid graduated with distinction from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2007. Following her studies, Ingrid traveled extensively, working for one of the world's largest privately-owned art auction houses. Her travels took her to iconic locations such as New York, California, Hawaii, Alaska, and across much of the East and South, experiences that greatly influenced her perspectives and beliefs. Upon returning to South Africa, Ingrid found herself inspired by the Garden Route’s stunning landscape—its lush forests, untouched coastline, and towering mountains became her primary subject matter.
Her work is further informed by a fascination with biology, patterns, science, philosophy, and spirituality, which converge in her art to express her innermost emotions. Through her creations, Ingrid communicates her connection to the world around her and her own personal journey.
