Amy Simons

Amy Simons is an artist and art facilitator based in Cape Town, South Africa. She has been working as a creative arts educator since 2012 and has collaborated with a variety of organisations and educational institutions. In 2015 she completed her BA Social Science at UCT as well as her intensive ASTAR art facilitator training course.

She currently teaches art part time at South Peninsula High School and is in collaboration with Indoni Dance Academy and The Astar Project in a youth development interdisciplinary art programme. Amy designs and facilitates context specific self-development and organisational development art processes that use art making as a tool for social engagement, personal growth and processing.

Her work as an artist focuses on intimacy, love and healing. She is drawn to using watery materials that enable her to express themes of love, loss, intimacy and sexuality. She has participated in a variety of exhibitions, including Spaces // A Constellation of Visual Stories, an exhibition she helped to curate, market and conceptualise.
