Nicholas Kerr (aka Dekor One) was born in 1980 in Johannesburg where he currently lives. He was schooled in fine arts and from the age of 19 he has been active in the street art scene, where he works under the moniker of Dekor One. His ability to paint almost anything with a spray can has earned him a few prestigious projects. In 2006 he travelled to Chemnitz, Germany to represent South Africa in an International graffiti festival called ‘Write for Gold’. In the same year he also participated in a graffiti festival called ‘Meeting of Styles’ which took place in Wiebaden, Germany. A decade of street art projects followed and by 2017 he became part of NVS Crew, an award winning German based street art collective. “My work generally characterises life in Johannesburg, a city I call “Johazzardous”. It is referred to as “The City of Gold” but is overpopulated, vast and unfair.” His participation in a group show at the WORLDART gallery in August 2021 will be his first gallery exhibition.
