Gabrielle Guy is a visual artist and art book designer based in Cape Town, South Africa. She works in various media, though mainly photography and drawing. Interested in the built and natural environments, and the intersections/ tensions between the two, she explores forms/ systems, light/ contrast and elemental powers through her precise and rigid aesthetic. In 2017 she held her first project-style exhibition of photographs and drawings, A-series, at blank lab in Maitland, Cape Town. She has self-published her own small photo books. In June 2021 she exhibited a small series of photographic works, Pictures of Pictures, at Artist Admin in Cape Town. As an art book designer, she has designed numerous artist monographs and photo books, most notably for William Kentridge, Sabelo Mlangeni, Igshaan Adams, Zanele Muholi, Jo Ractliffe, Penny Siopis and Zander Blom.
