Gemuce was born in 1963 in Quelimane, Mozambique. Having completed a course in ceramics at the School for Visual Arts in Maputo, he studied for a Licenciate at the Institute of Fine Arts in Kiev, completed a Master's in Mural Painting at Ukraine’s Academy of Fine Arts, and a Master's in the Conception and Management of Cultural Projects at the Faculty of International Cultural Training in France. He lives and works in Maputo, Mozambique.
In his artistic practice, Gemuce has explored different subjects and using different substances from canvas, paper, bronze, in video art, installation and objects. Launched his first solo exhibition in Germany 1992, since then he has been exhibiting in Mozambique, South Africa, Brazil, Portugal, Finland, England, Spain and other countries.
