Inayah Essack is an artist based in Cape Town, specialising primarily in charcoal drawing and with a penchant for collage and image manipulation. She received a Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree from the University of Cape Town and subsequently completed an internship at a local women-run practice centred on the empowerment of marginalised communities. Essack celebrates the intersection of a spatial practitioner in training and artist, mediating lived spatial experience and visual representation. This duality is highlighted through studies celebrating the human figure inhabiting and creating space, where bodies in harmony and conflict represent manifestations of internal dialogue. Through this she asks questions about perception, representation and spatial presence.
