Lucas Nkgweng

Originally from Limpopo, Lucas Nkgweng received a teaching diploma at the Makopane College of Eduaction, a printmaking certificate from Artist Proof Studio, and later a teacher training course certificate from Wits Technikon. He has had various group exhibitions and a solo show at the Cultuurcentrum in Belgium. He is presently working at the Artist Proof Studio as a printmaker and as a Manager of Education Printmaking programmes. His prints include etchings, Marley Tile cuts, collographs and woodcuts. Central to Nkgweng’s work is the theme of corruption in society which he feels affects the public across the board in South Africa. Nkgweng says “My beautiful country is consumed by corruption, fraud and greed. Corruption is eroding what is supposed to be the brightest future of our people. It is everywhere, touching and embracing every one of us, gradually destroying the trust and loyalty of our people”.
