Maggie de Vos, is a Pretoria based illustrator, designer and artist. de Vos studied visual communications at Open Window Institute. She completed her honours degree on how humour functions in illustrations.
She's released a voucher booklet consisting of 20 illustrated phrases in a project titled Exchanging (Un)pleasantries. She says she created the project as a way to escape unwanted social interactions. This project forms part of a larger body of work entitled Bittersweet Bitterkak.
“I believe humour is an amazing social tool,” she says.
She currently works as a lecturer at Open Window for Design Techniques & Communication Design. Her works often involves a gentle and quirky aesthetic incorporating animals and nature.
