Neo Nene Mahlangu

Neo Nene Mahlangu
Neo Mahlangu is (b. 1992) is a Johannesburg-based artist working primarily with charcoal and digital illustrations. Human connection grounds the practice of her work – her most recent work reasserts rhetoric of authority of the female voice in the everyday world and in the art world. The work normalizes vulnerability again, brining elegance and grace to the spaces that we occupy, it helps theorize the meaning of vulnerability in our lives, pushing you to day dream, and move into a space that allows spending uninterrupted time with thoughts, and dreams. Reminding you that in the midst of solitude is where we sometimes experience sharp insight and clarity. The process of creating work for the artists has proven to be more than a practical extension but also time spent in contemplation and preparation. The body of work is one by a woman who is well absorbed in her politics, affirming other women in their own efforts to construct worlds of undisturbed space, where we can work with passion and abandon.
