Robyn Munnick
ROBYN MUNNICK (1993 -)
Robyn Munnick works mainly at creating mixed media installations. Her artmaking techniques explore a variety of unconventional media in painting which is vital in visualizing and aestheticizing her conceptual underpinnings of her art. The unconventional approach enables her to experiment with a variety of painting media and explore the endless possibilities of manipulating media resulting in a three-dimensional artwork as opposed to the two-dimensional limitations of paint on canvas. Munnick is fascinated by the possibilities of the art making processes in assisting with the process of dealing with the trauma caused by the possibility of losing a family member to terminal illness.
Munnick still lives and works in her town of birth, namely Port Elizabeth. In 2019 she obtained her Masters Degree in Fine Art (cum laude) at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Munnick has been a finalist in the Sasol New Signatures Art Competition from 2014 through to 2019. She works in academia at the Nelson Mandela University in the painting discipline and her latest of several group exhibitions was Arrhythmia at the Dyman Gallery, Stellenbosch (2019).
