Thamba Tabvuma
Born in Zimbabwe, Tabvuma showed great interest in his surrounding environment which he found expression in. Encouraged to find ways to portray how he interpreted his environment, he found his expression in art.
Thamba studied art all his schooling days. In primary school he attended all the classes that were on offer. He remembers going to partake in pottery classes his mother was enrolled in. His desire for art was insatiable. Graduating from high school he again took all the art classes that were available. This resulted in him receiving his O’Levels in art and thereafter his A’Levels, in which he obtained a Distinction in Art. During this time he partook in several national competitions culminating in a First Prize in portrait.
He has continued to follow his passion, participating in numerous exhibitions in his native Zimbabwe and South Africa. His work has found homes in many parts of the world. Over the years he has been a member of various Art groups, including being a member of the AVA gallery in 2009 and Work in Progress in 2013.
Thamba has been drawing since he can remember, evolving from the use of pencil to ink. Currently, his medium of choice is oil. He continues on his journey.
