Vela Projects
Vela Projects is a fine art gallery based in Cape Town that specializes in works by contemporary South African and African artists.
Vela Projects was founded in 2022 with a month-long pop-up exhibition in a rented storefront in Greenmarket Square. Currently, Vela exists as a permanent gallery and office in a renovated 19th century building in the heart of Cape Town’s East City.
Vela Projects has also played an active role in the secondary market by promoting the work of modern artists and highlighting the history of artistic practice on the continent.
With a boutique selection of represented and non-represented artists, Vela offers an exciting program that resonates with the current global cultural landscape and champions the development of influential and lasting artistic careers.
