Io Makandal (b. 1987) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Working primarily with drawing and installation, her practice is concerned with processes, entropy, the binary between nature and artifice, living and dying, ephemerality and decay, urban ecology and hybrid environments during a time of climate change and environmental shift.

She has exhibited both locally and internationally and her work is a part of several private, public and institutional collections.
