'Experiences Are Different' 2023 is a owrk with great personal signficiance for the artist. The painting documents the life struggles and personal challenges he encountered in his own life and journey as an artist trying to tell the story of the displaced and undocumented immigrant communities he lived in. He depicts the shades of emotion and cycles of good and bad, the plagueing thoughts and losses he experienced to finally emerge from this fog to find light, colour and joy renewed in his life.
The work is rendered in acrylics on canvas with metal insets and keys as symbolic objects enabling access and release. This work is by talented Zimbabwean-born abstract artist, George Masarira and features in his new solo exhibition 'Jambanja, Urban Chaos Interrupted'.
