Madlozi Contemporary Art Gallery
Madlozi Contemporary is an international art gallery based in South Africa and invested in the work and careers of artists throughout the African diaspora globally. We are rooted in the richly diverse cultural identities that makes Africa, her history, and presence so vital to the development and evolving identity of the international art world. The gallery strives to consciously serve as a platform that enables and reflects the diverse cultural, racial, and gender identities of our artists, collaborators, and connected communities respectfully and inclusively.
Madlozi Contemporary proudly represents the work and ideas of established and emerging artists across disciplines and produces an engaging programme of art-related events and exhibitions annually. We believe in the power of culture to grow our shared humanity, and that access to art is a right, not a privilege. The gallery is proudly Black-owned and was founded by the curator, filmmaker and cultural producer Beathur Mgoza Baker. Exhibition and project partners include communities, non-profits, creative collectives, and commercial collaborators who share our vision and values.
Our exhibitions addresses critical socio-cultural, political, environmental and humanitarian themes in society and engage with insight leaders and exceptional artist collaborators globally. Madlozi Contemporary art gallery invites you to connect and explore our artists, programming and events as a collaborator invested in celebrating excellence. The gallery team confidently connects collectors and art lovers to premiere artworks, market trends and critical insights to enhance their love and support of the visual arts, and the growth of the cultural and creative economy on our continent.
