Indela ibuzwa kwabaphambili - Don’t walk on a path without acknowledging
those who walked it before you is a large-scale painting from the new body of works by absrtact expressionist painter, George Masarira for his solo exhbition 'Jambanja, Urban Chaos Interrupted'.
The work honours the journeys of ancestors who walked to new lands to became the pathfinders for the many other immigrants globally who cross borders annually to seek safety and economic stability. It also responds to the long history of cross-border migration in Africa and South Africa, and the muted emotions and invisibility of those who leave home to start a new life elsewhere while living under the radar.
