Artist George Masarira

‘Undocumented Life of A Migrant’ 2023 is a work in which the artist examines the urgency around being a documented citizen in order to escape the permenent distress that being a 'stateless' immigrant creates. Passports, visas, permits and the importance of refugee status - artist George Masarira revelas how the papers required to cross borders and enable a fresh start are hard to come by, and the barrier between acceptance and alienation for those who cross borders annually in Africa and worldwide.

The painting is featured in the artist's new solo exhibition 'Jambanja, Urban Chaos Interrupted' with Madlozi Contemporary Art.
