A Song and Dance on the Buffelsjags Rivier

I visited and interviewed two individuals who had both encountered and interacted with beings associated with the local Western Cape mermaid mythology—figures also depicted in San rock art. Their personal accounts were vivid and compelling, each describing a profound, extraordinary, and liminal experience. Deeply inspired by their recollections of that significant day, I created this painting from my imagination, interpreting what I believed they had witnessed.
