This work is inspired by Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso, known as Celia Cruz. She was a Cuban-American singer and one of the most popular Latin artists of the 20th century. Cruz delivered one of her most powerful albums in 2000 titled “Siempre Vivire” ( I will always live) a afro-cuban jazz music album recording on CD, LP/Vinyl and cassette. The 6th track off the album “Por si acaso no regreso” (Perhaps I do not come back) is a lyrical and poetic love letter to Cuba. Like the waters surrounding Cuban landscapes, the rhythms of this song sculpts Cuban lands, enduringly. Coating lyrical honey into the mental psyche of listeners. Making sure they are fully immersed in the designs of Cuban patterns. Knowing that Celia, and those like her-those who have migrated-have laid their words in Cuba’s womb.
The use of color in the painting can evoke emotions and convey a sense of rhythm and movement, similar to the way music can. For example, warm colors like red and orange can create a sense of energy and excitement, while cooler colors like blue and green can create a sense of calm and serenity.
