Linear wrap tan bangle
Xavier Clarisse is a Durban based artist and designer, born in Lyon, France. He attended L’Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris specialising in sculpture and product design and has worked in France, the UK and South Africa.
Clarisse is inspired by the abundant sub-tropical vegetation, vibrant colour and cultural diversity of his hometown, Durban. His work explores experimentation with materials and the theatre of the object itself, of interactivity, movement and playfulness.
His use of leather in lighting product and sculpture has evolved into his first range of jewellery titled ‘Linear’. These bold, sculptural pieces are crafted from quality vegetable-tanned leather with brass findings.
