I was born in Johannesburg in 1984 but spent my formative years abroad and at sea. I graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art in 2006, and have been an artist, working independently and collaboratively, ever since. In addition to my practice, I run a private school for the arts of painting, drawing and figurative sculpture. My works exploit the associations or properties that materials and forms have, in order to reflect on complex social and physical processes of preservation and entropy. They are objects and products of contemplation and a material engagement with the world, so as to explore human concerns and their transformative potential.
