Pule Ratsoma
Pule Ratsoma (b. 1990) is a South African printmaker and artist who divides his time between Johannesburg, where he trained and worked at Artist Proof Studio, and Limpopo. His artistic journey began in 2013, and he has since developed a distinctive style characterised by gestural and expressive marks that resemble code or tangled language. This unique approach to visual storytelling enables him to communicate complex themes and narratives through his art.
Ratsoma's artistic practice is heavily influenced by his personal experiences and the vibrant artistic community at Artist Proof Studio. He combines traditional printmaking techniques with contemporary themes, resulting in dynamic compositions that are both visually striking and thought-provoking. His work delves deeply into themes of human conditions and societal issues, often drawing inspiration from his observations and life experiences.
Ratsoma has exhibited widely in South Africa, participating in notable shows such as the Turbine Art Fair. His commitment to art extends beyond creation; he is passionate about transferring art skills to younger artists in rural areas, townships, and communities. By doing so, he aims to ensure the growth and accessibility of art education, fostering creative expression in areas where it is most needed.
