Amira Shariff

Amira Shariff, born in Johannesburg 1999, is an artist who uses photography as her main medium. She is an art director/set designer. strategist & cultural curator. She is currently working at an agency and events as the art director and creative strategist for events. She is currently in the process of completing her degree in strategic brand communications at Vega.

She went to study at the Market Photo Workshop in 2019 and continued a photographic journey through the lens collective in 2020. Her photographic work has been exhibited in the FNB Art Fair (2022), Through The Lens Collective Portrait Show (2020) & Advanced Student Show, Berman Contemporary (2021).

Her photographic journey began when she was 13 years old, inspired by her late uncle, abdul shariff. She uses photography to navigate her relationship with the world and unpack the relationship she has with herself and her identity. Furthermore, she looks at how the things which connect us are often the things which disconnect us. She layers images and leaves the viewer to question what exactly they are seeing or looking at.
