Eugenie Marais
Eugenie Marais is a visual artist from South Africa. In her paintings Marais often portrays everyday scenarios like bridges, roads and landscapes seen from a passerby’s perspective and enhances it with a sense of nostalgia, loneliness and serenity using a limited colour palette.
She believes that the artist is a vehicle for communicating ideas, experiences and emotions and therefore explores different mediums, techniques and subject matters. Her work includes mediums like oil paint, acrylic, collage, drawing, printmaking and mixed media and she often works in series.
Eugenie has presented six solo exhibitions and has taken part in various group exhibitions. She also collaborated with The Artists’ Press on two occasions to create lithographs and mono prints. Her work is part of various private and public collections.
