The Project Room - Namibia
The Project Room is a platform for Namibian art and artists. The physical and online space and collaborative projects of the gallery all aim to promote the work of Namibian artists locally and internationally. We work in close collaboration with both upcoming and established artists by supporting them in their creative process, exhibition development, curation, marketing, and as a connection to buyers, collectors, fairs and institutions.
Due to the limited local market, we have worked to expand opportunities for Namibian artists by exhibiting in South Africa over the past two years. So far, we have successfully showcased at Latitudes 2023 & 2024 and the FNB Joburg Art Fair 2024. We are currently the only Namibian gallery offering exhibition opportunities abroad for local artists.,/p>
The Project Room Namibia, founded by Frieda Lühl in 2016, began as a platform for local artists. In 2022, the gallery moved to central Windhoek, where Frieda partnered with Laschandrè Coetzee to refocus as a local commercial gallery. In addition to its monthly exhibitions and participation in art fairs, the small team manages corporate projects for clients such as the National Art Gallery of Namibia, the National Arts Council of Namibia, FirstRand Namibia, RMB Namibia, Bank Windhoek, and Capricorn Holdings.
