Tshepiso Moropa

Tshepiso Moropa is a visual artist who works in photography, collage and film from Johannesburg, South Africa. Inspired by the themes of identity and storytelling, Tshepiso uses the Baroque art form - a broad phrase that refers to complex features and elaborate sceneries. Her collage’s major objective, as evidenced by the details, is to appeal to human emotions through drama and exaggeration. They are characterised by the use of complicated forms, bold ornamentation, archival imagery and the juxtaposition of contrasting materials to give a feeling of drama, movement and tension. She has been part of numerous exhibitions including her first international exhibition at Oakstop Gallery in Oakland, California (USA) and featured in publications such as 1854.
